Naughty Corner for Kidd in coaching debut

You know what they say, “those who can – play, those who can’t (anymore) – coach”. Well to take it a step further, it seems those who still have a player’s mindset on the sidelines evidently get technical fouled when coaching their first pro game.

Recently retired player and even more recently hired Head Coach of the Brooklyn Nets, Jason Kidd picked up a technical foul in his first game on the sidelines. Kidd’s Nets lost to the Detroit Pistons 76-67 in Summer League play. Late in the game¬†Brooklyn’s new top man got off the bench and walked across half court to challenge a foul call.

“It happens,” Kidd said of the technical. “I learned quickly where the coaching box is. I’ve seen some coaches on the other end of the floor, so I can’t follow their lead.”

Tough lesson for Kidd first up, a loss and a technical foul.

You know what they say, “Brooklyn Stand Up!“.

Perhaps Kidd should stick to sitting down in his next outing.
