Carmelo Anthony put on the greatest Knick scoring performance of all-time on Friday night, scoring 62 points in New York’s 125-96 slaughter of the Charlotte Bobcats. Melo shot 23/35 from the field, 6/11 from downtown, pulled down 13 rebounds and hit a perfect 11/11 from the charity stripe.
There were no answers for Charlotte on the defensive end as Melo torched them from all over the court, no matter who guarded him. He eclipsed records held by Kobe Bryant and the great Bernard King on his way to 62.

The social media experience was also fun. Especially when some people wanted more assists out a guy who was shooting 22/28 from the field at the time. Just for some post-game entertainment, search the term “Melo assists” on Twitter. You’ll roll your eyes and wonder what has become of human civilization.
This tweet was fun though and pretty much summed up the evening.

A simply electrifying, once in a career-type performance from Melo. New York fans will be hoping he can re-produce at least a portion of this form when their Knicks face the Lakers on Sunday, again at Madison Square Garden.
Until then, enjoy the moment.
